Since Brasov area weather was nicer, we drove to the Seven Ladders Gorge for a short late afternoon hike; after about a km hike up a valley,
we approached a high cliff with a small crevice-like opening with a steel ladder extending up into the crevice; the first of seven such ladders.
At the top of each ladder was a walkway attached to the side of the gorge, which proceeded to the next ladder, and so on. The gorge was very narrow
and the walls straight up, with the raging cascade to our left below. The largest of the ladders was 15 meters high, quite a climb.
Toward the top the gorge opened a bit to the sky and the trail leading us out of the gorge. WOW! Spectacular! How they got all those walkways
and ladders in there under those conditions? At the top, we climbed a bit higher to a saddle where Ed sat on a huge fallen log while
Peter visited one of his caches further up a higher level. Then we found our way back down to the car and back to Brasov. Peter knew a small
nice restaurant just across the street from the pension and we ate there; I had a flat-bowl of Hungarian Goulash, a bowl of fresh lettuce with lemon,
ending up with his crepes with chocolate ice cream. Back to bed at 11:45pm.
