Yakima Copperhead Bike Carrier
GET YOURSELF A COPPERHEAD, AND NO MATTER YOUR BUDGET, YOU LL STILL HAVE A FEW COPPER COINS TO RUB TOGETHER.- Forks attaches quickly and easily to locking skewer - Aerodynamic fork block for extra stability - Fits common tire and rim sizes Q: Why pick the copperhead over the other bike mounts? A: The copperhead offers great value in a lockable short roofline compatible, fork style mount. It s less expensive alternative to the Steelhead.Q: What maintenance do I need to do? A: Maintenance is important to keep it working properly and to help it last longer. Apply grease to nuts, screws, and bolts. Lubricate locks with graphite. Remove the rack when not in use. Clean the rack periodically, especially in marine environments and where road salt is used.Q: Does it carry all bikes? A: The Copperhead carries just about any bike with a quick release wheel skewer. However, there are a few exceptions where one of our other mounts should be used instead. These exceptions include, but are not limited to, bikes with nutted front wheels, triple clamp forks, forks with dropout spacing (the distance between the forks at the tips) other than 100mm, or disc brakes.Q: How much space does it need? Now many can I carry? A: That depends on the bikes and vehicle. First check the Fit List to see if there are any specific limitations for your vehicle (using the online Fit List bike mounts may not be offered or a load limit will be stated in the notes at the end of the process). In general, you will need about 12 inches of crossbar per bike when mounting them alternately front and rear facing. Barring any other restriction the practical limit is usually 4 bikes.Q: Can I use this bike mount with a factory rack? A: Fork style mounts will not mount directly to factory crossbars. The bike mount gets its side to side stability from the crossbar. Fork mounts stress crossbars more than upright styles because of their narrowness. Through testing we have found that factory rack crossbars are not strong enough to handle the stress generated by fork mounts.Q: Why would I got with a fork mount over an upright style mount, or vice versa? A: Some like the aerodynamic look and manageability of a fork mount. Some don t want to hassle with getting their hands dirty removing the bike s front tire and prefer an upright rack. A bike may have unique features (dual suspension, disc brakes, lefty fork, etc.) that limit bike mount choices, but one or more of our mounts will do the trick to keep your bike secure. Look up the specific bike mount for more details.Q: How long is the tray? A: 43 inchesQ: I already have a boa, but how can I make it work on my new smaller car? (Crossbars less than 32 apart) A: The boa can be converted into a Copperhead simply by adding a longer wheeltray and a new rattler wheel strap. Then the bike mount will work on crossbar spreads as little as 16 . Check out the page for Copperhead for more information about the wheeltray replacement part. You will also need a new Rattler strap.

Yakima Q Towers 2 Roof Rack
Q TOWERS ARE JUST YOUR TICKET. YOU SEE, Q STANDS FOR THE QUADRUPLE MOVEMENT CAPABILITY OF THE TOWER AND CLIP. THAT GIVES IT 4 DEGREES OF FREEDOM TO BETTER FIT YOUR CAR. AND MORE FREEDOM IS ALWAYS A GOOD THING. SO STRIKE A BLOW FOR FREEDOM. BUY SOME Q TOWERS TODAY.- Die-cast interior for solid, sturdy anchor- Ball-and-socket mechanism adjusts to all contours of your vehicle. We know that sounds vaguely dirty, but it's not- Add-vehicle specific Q-clips (00601-00730) to ensure a custom fit to your doorframe (Do not confuse Q-Clips with similar-sounding personal hygiene products. Attempting to clean your ears with Q-Clips may result in serious Vincent Van Gogh-like injuries.)- Upgraded for easier and faster installation- #00124 Q: What else is needed? A: You will need Q clips and crossbars. Check the fit list to see which clips and crossbar length is correct for your vehicle.Q: Is there a way I can make it taller? A: There is no way to make the towers taller.Q: How much can I carry? A: This varies by vehicle, load type and crossbar length. Check the fit list to find out what load types (bikes, skis, boats, etc.) and weight capacity applies to your car. The fit list will also tell you the best crossbar length (48", 58", 66", or 78") to use. You can go up one size if necessary, but duck your head.Q: I have a factory rack, will the Q-towers still work? A: Oftdntimes it will. Look up your vehicle in the Fit List. If Q-towers are listed as an option for your vehicle with a factory rack then it should work. Also check for notes at the end of the listing to see if the factory rack causes any limitations.Q: What sort of maintenance should I perform? A: Performing maintenance is always a good idea to protect your car and make your rack system last longer. Lubricate nuts, screws, or bolts with grease. Lubricate locks with graphite. Remove the rack when not in use, or at least periodically to clean the pads and the vehicles roof. Clean the rack periodically, especially in marine environments and where road salt is used.Q: How can I be sure the system is installed correctly? A: There is no substitute for following all instructions. You can download instructions here. Be sure to perform both the Clip Safety Check and Tower Safety Check after every installation. The Q Clip instructions may have additional notes for your vehicle.Q: Will the rack make a lot of noise? A: Maybe. Wind noise is hard to predict, but it is more often an issue when the rack has little or no load. We make two products, the Fairing and Windjammer, to help control this situation. Large loads tend to dampen noise also. If you have a sunroof the fairing is a good way to help control air flow.Q: Will it damage my car? A: We take fitting cars very seriously, and do everything we can to minimize any effect our rack may have on your cars. However, anything coming into contact with a caR's finish, including our racks, will have some effect over time, and some cars are more prone to these issues than others. So where the possibility of such issues is predictable, we make note of that in the Fit List. When the rack will not be in use for an extended period, it is a good idea to take the rack off of the car. You can also do a lot for yourself by: (1) Making sure the car is clean and well waxed prior to installing the rack, (2) Following all instructions for installation and usage, and (3) avoiding situations, such as car washes, where the rack may be impacted.Q: Do I need to drill into my car? A: Nope, and you won't need any duct tape either.Q: Where did the name "Q TowerS" come from? A: We don't know. It seemed like a good idea at t
