Corcoaia Gorges - Gorj county 0.8 km away
The Corcoaia Gorge is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the Cerna Valley. It can be reached by car, 43 km away from Baile Herculane, of which about 17 km is on a dusty gravel road. The spectacular part of the gorge is relatively short, about 300 m.
Billy-goat lake, Closed Gates - Retezat Mountains 33.2 km away
The most unique ridge trail of the Retezat Mountains is the Closed Gates.
Sheepdogs - Govora sheepfold - Retezat mountains 38.01 km away
On the second day of my weekend Retezat hike, I visited a sheepfold on the Lancita Ridge. To my great disappointment, they didn't make cheese or curd here. The owners sell the more special types of sheep and rams in the autumn.
Rudariei watermills - Eftimie Murgu 54.37 km away
I have visited the twenty-two wooden water mills with horizontal wheels, located in the valley of the Rudaria stream, mostly in the rain and under an umbrella. Some of them are still in use today. In 1874, there were still fifty such water mills operating in the village.
Crivadia Gorges 55.19 km away
The Crivadia Gorge is located next to the village of Crivadia, which belongs to Banita. Access is difficult, and the hike is made through the streambed, with water up to the waist at its narrowest point.

Iron path Harghita-Madaras 267.56 km away
Amateur filming in Harghita-Madaras, holding the camera by hand in the car, and helmet-mounted on the via ferrata. I climbed an iron path for the first time in my life on the Nyerges cliffs (Stancile Seii), I didn't have the right equipment yet. That's where I fell in love with climbing.
Crivadia Gorges 55.19 km away
The Crivadia Gorge is located next to the village of Crivadia, which belongs to Banita. Access is difficult, and the hike is made through the streambed, with water up to the waist at its narrowest point.
With snowshoes in the Tihu creek valley Rastolita 287.76 km away
We met geotrekking treasure hunters from Gheorgheni, Miercurea Ciuc and Targu Mures in Rastolita. We entered the Calimani Mountains with an off-road vehicle, along the Rastolita and Tihu streams. As it turned out, the well-worn forest road can also be traveled by car for a good distance.
Via ferrata Ernesto Che Guevara Italia 918.54 km away
The Che Guevara via ferrata is the longest iron climbing route I have ever climbed. There is a 1400 m level difference from the starting point to the peak of Monte Casale.
Aareschlucht Meiringen-Innertkirchen, Switzerland 1131.3 km away
The Aareschlucht is a 1400-meter long, 200-meter deep gorge of the Aare river, near Innertkirchen, Switzerland. It has two entrances, one from Meiringen in the west, and one from Innertkirchen in the east, which lead into the narrow, but stunning gorge.
Hias Klettersteig Silberkarklamm, Ramsau am Dachstein 735.01 km away
The Hias Klettersteig in the Silberkarklamm gorge is the first of the three via ferrata routes, and perhaps the easiest to complete. Two cable bridges and a few trickier sections make it interesting, but it is truly impressive due to the view of the narrow gorge.
Siega Klettersteig Silberkarklamm, Ramsau am Dachstein 735.67 km away
The Siega Klettersteig, categorized as a C/D level of difficulty, is perhaps the least interesting of the three via ferratas in the Silberkarklamm gorge. This doesn't mean that it's not good, just that the other two are even better. :-)
Silberkarklamm Ramsau am Dachstein, Austria 734.93 km away
One of the most beautiful hiking spots in the area of Ramsau am Dachstein, is the Silberkarklamm. It is possible to drive to the entrance of the gorge, there is parking available on the side of the road, and you have to pay an entrance fee.
Schulter Anstieg klettersteig Hoher Dachstein, Austria 743.85 km away
Two iron paths lead to the top of the Hoher Dachstein. The Randkluft is shorter, but can only be reached through a glacier with cracks. It is dangerous to reach the starting point, that's probably why it was closed now.
Astragalus iron path in winter Glod Stone, Munticelu 308.95 km away
The official website of the Sugau Gorges published information about a new via ferrata climbing route named Astragalus. Sugau Gorges - Munticelu is a nature conservation area part of Natura 2000 located in Neamt County, which borders Harghita County.
Castle panorama route, Zoltán Tálos memorial route, Besieger's route Csesznek 444.61 km away
Castle panorama route (D), Zoltán Tálos memorial route (E), Besieger's route (C), Kőmosó-ravine, Csesznek, Veszprém county, Hungary. The via ferratas in Csesznek are suitable for both getting acquainted with climbing, and assessing our capabilities.
L'Escale á Peille iron path Alpes-Maritimes, France 1219.69 km away
One of the challenging via ferratas in the Maritime Alps is the L'Escale a Peille. One of its elements is a steel cobweb, where you can feel like you're hanging in the air.
Via ferrata du Diable France 1248.07 km away
The Devil's Iron Path (Via ferrata du Diable) is a multi-part via ferrata, located above a spectacular waterfall (Cascade du Nant), in a gorge, below the Victor-Emmanuel fort. For me, this climbing route presented the greatest challenge so far.
Via ferrata Rio Sallagoni Italia 918.97 km away
The surrounding iron climbing routes are located on rock walls exposed to a scorching sun. But the Rio Sallagoni via ferrata goes upwards in a pleasantly cool gorge, above the creek and waterfalls, and eventually reaches the Drena Castle.
